Guerrilla Shakespeare
One of three productions produced virtually and remotely during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Guerrilla Shakespeare
Directed by Kaila Tacazon ‘22
This production is a web series of Shakespeare soliloquies, shot entirely using phone cameras. ATC aims to reclaim one of the most famous playwrights of all time because the poetry and passion of Shakespeare's characters were made for everyday people like us. This project redefines what Shakespeare means to us and shows why his stories about the human condition survive plague, war, injustice, and above all, time. In tandem with the creation of this web series, ATC hosted two workshops where members of the USC community discussed Shakespeare's stories, language, and colonizer contexts. Reclaiming classics is a constant practice not only for artists, but for anyone who cares about how our past plays a role in our future.
Workshops:
Shakespeare in Our World - March 28th, 2021
Decolonizing Shakespeare - April 4th, 2021
